HOW TO CLEAN AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR VERYLAF MERINO WOOL BLANKET.
Verylaf´s blankets are knitted, by ourselves, in 100% wool from unspun non-mulesed merino sheep which needs to be handled gently to stay beautiful and soft for years.
Some shedding and pilling will occur naturally. The heavier the use, the more damage the blanket will sustain.
Ideally, the product should be washed as rarely as possible and preferably not at all, but if the product requires cleaning, the first option is to whisk. A sunny autumn or winter day is perfect for weathering. Wool has a self-cleaning ability and dirt can migrate out of the garment with the help of moisture.
If you accidentally spilled something on it, run that area of the blanket under cold water (not warmer than 30 degrees) immediately. Once the stain has been washed out, put that spot between two towels and give it a gentle squeeze (do not twist). Afterward, put the blanket on a surface where it´s going to get a lot of air and make sure to flip it periodically until it dries.
Guaranteed “pilling-free” products that are knitted are hard to find. Yarn consists of fibres of a certain length. Pilling is formed when free short fibres begin to move in the yarn and then collect on the surface in small balls. It happens when you wear and rub the yarn. Whether or not the garment punches also depend on how hard the yarn is spun and how hard the garment is.
Before the product is ready at Verylaf, it goes through a process which makes it better.
Pilling does not count as a production error, that´s how wool behaves and how it age. We take the product through a process we hope to reduce the amount of nibbles.
You can either trim the pillings away with scissors or remove by hand but in both cases act gently.

It is natural that 100% wool always falls off on some materials, but can easily be removed by using a lint roller.
How to clean and make your chunky piece look like new again.
We suggest to:
Hand-wash only in cold water (not warmer than 30 degrees).
Dry flat on a table in the shade. Use a big towel underneath.
Do not use bleach.
Do not twist or wring.
Do not use a dryer.
All knits get lots of lint after wearing but you only need a pair of scissors and your time to cut them off, then it´s done. Be careful – don´t cut the yarn.
Fine quality knits need to be treated with love and patience!
